Nintendo relies on FirstSpirit and I-D Media for European web relaunch

Nintendo of Europe GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Japanese technology group Nintendo, implemented the relaunch of its European websites in collaboration with I-D Media. In the proof of concept initiated by I-D Media, the CMS FirstSpirit from e-Spirit AG impressed with its high usability, the central distribution of content across various output channels and a strong integration capability. With FirstSpirit, Nintendo of Europe will manage the content for all twelve country websites in eight languages on a future-proof platform.

With the FirstSpirit CorporateDatabase module, content from several existing databases is now seamlessly integrated into the CMS. This enables editors in the individual country branches to centrally access all the content stored there, such as information on new games, directly from the editorial interface and publish it via the various output channels such as the website or newsletter. At the same time, the module ensures that the content managed in the CMS is automatically updated in the database in the background.

This allows Nintendo to centrally manage all country-specific content and product information, such as different age ratings for games, which can vary from country to country, on a shared platform and publish it in the respective markets.

I-D Media also completely redeveloped the search functionality for the Nintendo websites based on Apache Solr and created page template definitions for the migration of content. I-D Media was also responsible for the implementation of the media player and workflows.
